About ScanComply

Our Mission

ScanComply provides a free, simple way for organizations to test their website's privacy and security compliance. With major state privacy laws taking effect in 2025 and data breaches on the rise, we believe every business should have access to basic testing tools — without expensive subscriptions or complex software.

Why We Built This

Starting January 1, 2025, new privacy and security regulations — including the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, and others — go into effect. At the same time, regulators are cracking down on poor security practices that leave sensitive data exposed.

Small and mid-sized organizations are especially vulnerable: the cost of a single privacy violation can reach $7,500 per consumer record, and the average cost of a data breach in the U.S. exceeds $4 million.

We saw a critical need for a free, accessible compliance testing tool that helps organizations identify risks before regulators or hackers do.

How It Works

  1. Enter your website URL
  2. We analyze it using industry-standard privacy & security checks
  3. Instantly see a compliance score (0–100)
  4. Get plain-English explanations of issues
  5. Learn how to fix them with step-by-step recommendations

Important Disclaimer

This tool provides basic automated testing only. While it uses recognized standards and best-practice checks, it is not a substitute for a full compliance audit or penetration test. For comprehensive verification, consult legal/compliance professionals or enterprise-grade solutions.

The 2025 Deadlines

  • January 1, 2025: Texas, Oregon, and Montana privacy laws take effect
  • Throughout 2025: New Jersey, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, and New Hampshire join in
  • Ongoing: Regulators may impose fines for poor security practices at any time
